INTRODUCTION

Here we go one intresting post. We are handling lots of Distribution points and secondary site. So its mandatory to make sure that every packages has been distributed to all the DP before we do any update, packages, application deployments and so on

While distribution mostly everyone used to get lots of error. In this post we will explain one of the error faced while distributing the content to distribution point. Let’s move on to the topic

ERROR HISTORY

A Distribution point is failing to copy the contents from Primary Server due to space issue. However, the distribution point server has enough space on the Primary Content Library location drive and Secondary Content Library location drive .

Checking PkgXferMgr.log, the below error can be identified.

Error: Failed to add the file Somefilename.cab in content {ID}. Error 0x8007050f

CAUSE AND SOLUTION

The reserveddiskspace was set to 0x000186a0 (100000) in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP.

100000 MB is equal to 97.65 GB. Since the space on DP designated drive was below 100 GB, SCCM package transfer manager stops to transfer with above mentioned error and shows the status as failed to distribute the content under \Monitoring\Overview\Distribution Status\Distribution Point Configuration Status\DP Server Name\ in SCCM console.

Amending the registry value to 0 or to default value of 50 MB should fix the said error and distribute the content successfully to the Distribution point server.

The below shown value should not be changed at the time of Distribution point setup.
